DMCA Policy

Read Hub  publishes original articles about books, reading, education, productivity, business, finance, psychology, and self-improvement. Everything we write is created specifically for this site, and we take that same standard of originality seriously when it comes to the work of others.

We respect the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, writers, and creators, and we understand how much effort goes into producing original work. This policy explains how Read Hub handles copyright concerns and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Our Commitment to Copyright Compliance

Read Hub does not knowingly publish content that infringes on someone else’s copyright. If we use a quote, image, or reference from another source, our intention is always to do so lawfully  whether through fair use, proper attribution, or licensed material.

That said, mistakes can happen, especially on a site that publishes regularly. If you believe something on Read Hub infringes your copyright, we want to know about it, and we take these reports seriously. In line with the DMCA, we respond to valid takedown notices and will remove or disable access to material found to be infringing.

Submitting a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you’re a copyright owner (or authorized to act on a copyright owner’s behalf) and believe your work has been used on Read Hub without permission, please send us a written notice that includes the following information. This helps us investigate the claim properly and act on it without unnecessary delay.

Your notice should include:

• Identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed. If more than one work is involved, a list is fine; you don’t need to send a separate notice for each one.
• Identification of the material you believe is infringing, including the exact URL or page on readhubb.com where it appears. The more specific you can be, the faster we can locate and review it.
• Your contact information, including your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address, so we can follow up if needed.
• A statement of good faith belief that the use of the material in question has not been authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
• A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or the person authorized to act on their behalf.

We’d note that this process exists specifically for copyright claims. If you have a general complaint, correction request, or other concern about content on Read Hub, our regular Contact page is the better place to reach us.

What Happens After We Receive a Notice

Once we receive a DMCA notice that includes the required information, we’ll review it to confirm it’s complete and appears valid. If it is, we’ll typically remove or restrict access to the material in question while we look into the matter further.

We’ll also do our best to notify the person or account responsible for posting the content, where applicable, so they’re aware a claim has been made and understand their options — including the right to submit a counter-notification, explained below.

We aim to handle these reviews promptly, though the exact timeline can vary depending on the complexity of the claim and the information provided. We can’t guarantee a specific response time, but copyright notices are not something we sit on.

Submitting a Counter-Notification

If content you posted or are otherwise responsible for was removed because of a DMCA notice, and you believe it was taken down by mistake or misidentification, you have the right to submit a counter-notification.

A valid counter-notification should include:

• Identification of the material that was removed, along with its location on the site before removal.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
• Your name, address, and phone number.
• A statement consents to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district (or, if outside the United States, an appropriate judicial district), and that you’ll accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

Once we receive a valid counter-notification, we may forward it to the original complaining party. Under the DMCA, if that party doesn’t take further legal action within the required timeframe, we may reinstate the removed material. We handle this step carefully and in line with what the law actually requires; we’re not in a position to make judgment calls on the underlying copyright dispute itself.

False Claims and Misuse of This Process

The DMCA process is meant to protect legitimate copyright interests, not to be used as a shortcut to remove content someone simply dislikes or disagrees with.

Anyone who knowingly submits a false or misleading takedown notice or counter-notification may be liable for damages, including costs and attorney’s fees, under Section 512(f) of the DMCA. We’d encourage anyone submitting a notice to make sure their claim is accurate and made in good faith before sending it.

Repeat Infringement

Where appropriate, and consistent with our obligations under the DMCA, Read Hub may restrict, remove, or take other reasonable action regarding content or contributions associated with individuals who are found to be repeat copyright infringers. We evaluate this on a case-by-case basis, based on the information available to us.

A Few Honest Notes

We’re an independently run website, not a large media company with a dedicated legal department. We handle DMCA matters carefully and in good faith, but we can’t offer formal legal advice, guarantee particular outcomes, or promise instant turnaround on every request. What we can promise is that we take copyright seriously and will respond to properly submitted notices in accordance with the law.
